Jairo Cardona and Dennis Stovall are founding directors of Sacred Bodywork, an educational institution founded with the mission of preserving and transmitting the ancient traditions of Hawaii and Thailand in a modern world. These teachings are at the core of their work and both begin with a heart-based connection that goes beyond the physical techniques.
In Western traditions, massage therapy is often perceived merely as a vehicle for relaxation. In the East, bodywork has been elevated to an art form that facilitates balance between body, mind and spirit. Finding and maintaining that balance are considered crucial for health and wellness. The role of Sacred Bodywork is to introduce Western practitioners to new possibilities that can make their more connected, more focused and more effective.
Jairo is the author of the workbooks used in all of their training. Dennis has been with The Standard Miami, since it opened, first as a massage therapist and as spa operations manager for the last three years. They host a roster of workshops and retreats around the world, including annual residential retreats in Hawaii and Thailand. In addition, they are part of the faculty at Educating Hands School of Massage in Miami.
At The Standard Miami, Jairo and Dennis offer residential retreats and non-residential workshops for bodyworkers who want to enhance their work. Virtually all of the therapists at the Standard have participated in one of more of these workshops, bringing these traditional practices into their own sessions…Thai Facial Massage for the estheticians, Thai Foot Massage for the nail technicians and Thai massage, Stone Massage and Hawaiian Lomilomi for the massage team.
This summer will be full of opportunities to learn and practice with workshops scheduled throughout. The classes are open to all levels of students and beginners. In June they will offer four trainings at The Standard Miami:
