Desert Nights - June 22
Tomorrow night is a new installment of our weekly acoustic night party called Desert Nights at The Standard Hollywood. This week is a fresh batch of new talent. Meet the 3 acts…

(Listen to Burial at Sea on Facebook or Official Site)
By the year 1974, robots have replaced humans in the boxing ring. Travelling from one tank-town to another, fight manager Steel Kelly (Lee Marvin) hopes to squeeze one last bout out of his robot client Battling Maxo. Unable to pay for repairs when Maxo malfunctions, Steel grimly determines to win the prize money by taking the robot’s place in the ring. — (yes, that’s their band bio on Facebook)

(Listen to Melody Prout here)
Singing almost as soon as she could speak, songstess Melody Prout’s altogether smooth sound has lifted her audiences in San Diego, Los Angeles, and Nashville, TN. A northern California native, her easy guitar and scathing vulnerability satisfy listeners’ yearning for raw soul and true storytelling. Singer/songwriter Tyrone Wells of Los Angeles, California writes “The first time I heard melody prout sing I, along with the rest of the room, became deathly still. Her voice stopped me cold. There is something honest, haunting, and breath-taking about Melody Prout’s art.”

(Listen to D Henry Fenton here)
“Aussie troubadour D Henry Fenton left the Sydney pop scene for the life of a singer/ songwriter in North Carolina, worked halfway back across the States to play a SXSW showcase and was promptly snapped up by Laughing Outlaw Records. He sings with a rare combination of pop sweetness and emotional power, and he writes songs worthy of his distinctive voice. While the best known name in the credits may belong to former REM producer Mitch Easter (who plays on most tracks as well as producing), the best reason to hear it is Fenton himself. Cosmik Debris says he’s “one of the rare singer/songwriters who seems to be equally adept on both sides of the slash.”

What is Desert Nights?
Desert Nights is a weekly gathering at The Standard, Hollywood. Every Wednesday, we curate 3 musical acts on the rise to perform a special acoustic set in our hotel lounge. The vibe is warm and intimate, evoking an impromptu jam in a musician’s living room. Also, expect 2 clever cover songs delivered by each performer. The sets begins at 7:30 pm in the Cactus Lounge (thus the title of the evening, Desert Nights).
