Ok. so the world didn’t stop spinning in December after Carine Roitfeld stepped down from her position at French Vogue. We realize this is a major changing of the guards in the industry, but eventually all the gasps subsided. Stylist Emmanuelle Alt (also the magazine’s Fashion Editor the last 10 years) grabbed the steering wheel.. and voila… the new French Vogue it is. Life moves on and moves on fashionably.
The first cover? Gisele Bündchen in a white Dolce & Gabbana dress while Ines van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin snapped the photo.
A note to young blood: “I want to have new people working for the magazine,” Alt said. “I also want to push some young stylists” says Alt to WWD. “All the girls who have been trained by French Vogue.”
In terms of the old-school stylists, Alt is enlisting the likes of Joe McKenna, Camilla Nickerson and Melanie Ward (former Helmut Lang collaborator who also succeeded Alt as creative adviser to Christophe Decarnin, designer at Balmain).
You’ll have to wait until the April issue to see her full influence (remember she entered her post as Editor-in-Chief in February during this issue closing. So stay tuned as she full throttles ahead in her new post. All eyes are on her. Go Alt!
