Maude Testifies!
Whoa. We bumped into this piece of 1980 rare clip found on a channel called Fab TV. The clip has Bea Arthur (otherwise known as the genius comedian in Maude) on a variety show with Melba Moore and the old dirty lady puppet you always saw on The Love Boat called Madame.
There’s alot of undertones here with Rock Hudson obviously. It’s a parody of the fundamentalism against gay culture with Bea giving a sermon “There are men in this town who lustful and oversexed!”. Anyway, they have a riot here… a big funky soulful riot with a laugh.
The show Maude had another episode called The Gay Bar, which addresses all sorts of other issues including illegal aliens too, starring, none other than the actor who played the father on Different Strokes. It’s like one big 80’s mash-up. Enjoy.
