Building Fashion’s, Siki Im

Fashion and Architecture? Mixing them up is a happy accident like peanut butter and chocolate. It’s time for another collaboration between a globally respected fashion designer and architect. The event is called Building Fashion, and its creators include BOFFO and Spilios Gianakopoulos who hold the event at HL23, which stands for High Line Park located at 504 West 24th Street. Previous designers included Simon Spurr, House of Waris, and Richard Chai.

Last night, on Friday, November 5th, was the celebration of Designer Siki Im. The architect turned menswear designer spoke to the New York Times’ T Magazine this Fall about his inspirations.

Siki Im is a fascinating case study due to his mix of skills. A graduate (with Honors) from the Oxford School of Architecture, Siki has worked in various cities around the world. He finally moved to New York in 2001, where he worked with progressive architecture firm, Architetontics. Several projects into his career, Siki pulled a left turn and reinvented himself as a Fashion Designer, with Senior Designing roles at Karl Lagerfeld and Helmut Lang.

After designing for Fashion Houses, Siki has harnessed his history utilizing his knowledge and experience within architecture, furniture, graphics, art, and music… manifesting it all into the creation of fabrics and shapes.
