Tomorrow, Swimming with Sharks in NYC

This week is a treat for our New York guests at The Standard New York. Matthew Goldman and Sarah Hooper are bringing back the infamous Swimming with Sharks party back to the big apple. The famous party normally resides in Los Angeles at our downtown property. Once a week, the rooftop pool goes off the hinges with babes, the best DJ’s, cocktails, and water guns.

This time, at our New York installment of the party, the festivities are transported to the city’s rooftop, full of green astroturf and beach chairs. The battle behind the turn table will be between: Plant (represented by Stretch Armstrong) + Dominique (of The Glass) + DKDS vs SWS residents Cosmic Kids + DJ Rockwell.

The mayhem begins on Saturday July 9th from 3pm to 9pm. And for the love of God, please don’t forget your sunscreen!

The Joy of DJ’ing

We’re not sure if this man is wholesomely happy, or if he dropped some, um, happy pills. In any case, we can’t stop from smiling at this contagious video… quite possibly, the “Happiest DJ in the World”

Nautical Nails for Summer

It’s official. All the ladies in New York are going out to doll up their nails for summer. Here’s a good look to rock for the season, Nautical Nails. These hands belong to the DJ Harley Viera Newton with a short note on her Twitter —  ”3 hours later”. You can follow Harley’s adventures on Twitter

If You’re Lucky, You can Win This

If you want someone to like you, what’s the best way to get it? You bribe them! We know it’s kind of a cheap trick, but whateryugonnado? This week, the guys at Turntable Lab are giving away one free Traktor to a budding DJ who’s in need of some software. All you have to do is go to their Turntable Lab Facebook Page, and let the boys know you like them. After that, you can go peruse some new music and goods on their site, Turntablelab.com. We never stop learning new tricks from them.

Saturday Night People.

Make-Out on the Dancefloor This Friday

This Friday, Le Bain welcomes the dance music lovers of Autobrennt, with one of Wolf + Lamb’s favorite artists, Ryan Cavanagh aka Slow Hands. We heard Ryan “makes deep house music to dim the lights to”, so we met him before it’s too dark.

Your music has been described as “make-out disco”. Do you think it’s a good definition?

Haha, so it has. I suppose it’s a good way to describe my production at times, and my DJ style sometimes too, but certainly not overall. When you go on to play a club at peak time, and the DJ before you is hammering out something like Paul Ritch or Richie Hawtin, it’s certainly hard to go on and not piss the crowd off if you play some slow sultry “make out disco” (I have learned that from experience). To be a good DJ is to woo the crowd into your sound, sometimes this may be taking them into “make out” land, but most people don’t go to a club to make out, they go have fun, bounce about, and dance … save the “make out disco” for the end of the night, when that’s what people want.
