Burger of the Week

Ever since our super talented Chef Micah Fields joined us, The Restaurant has been graced with a special new menu addition - the Burger of the Week! Served for lunch seven days a week, some recent favorites have included The Italian Boar (pictured above) and Seared Ahi.

This week’s delightful concoction, the Shroom Burger, starts with a mushroom infused bun and crispy Portobello patty and is topped off with herb aioli, arugula and smoked Gouda. Salivating yet? 

The Burger of the Week is served every day beginning at noon, exclusively at The Restaurant at The Standard, Downtown LA. Come and get it!

Chef Micah Throws Down

Last Saturday, our own Executive Chef Micah Fields represented for The Standard in the Hot Knives Thunderdome at the 2nd 8th Annual Grilled Cheese Invitational, hosted in Downtown LA…. as expected, he didn’t disappoint.

Chef Micah dominated with The Melted Mushroom - bacon bread, smoked mozzarella, wild mushrooms and ramp vinaigrette - to win his round over Chef Eric Samaniego of Comme Ca.

Cheesy, In a Good Way

If you fancy yourself an aficionado of all things grilled cheese, there’s only one place to be in LA this Saturday - The Grilled Cheese Invitational. Relocated this year to Los Angeles Center Studios, the event will be bigger than ever and already has us salivating. What’s even better, our new executive chef, Micah Fields, will go for the gold in the Hot Knives GCI Thunderdome. We’ve seen his recipes and trust us, they are medal worthy.

In the case you’re not a professional chef, here’s how it works. Competitors will vie for champion in one of four categories, ranging from the basic - Love, American Style - to chef’s choice - The Kama Sutra (savory) or The Honey Pot (sweet). A lucky few will sample, vote and ultimately select a winner in each group.

Not especially proud of your skills in the kitchen? You can still compete for the trophy in Cheese Calling or Cheesy Poetry or simply show up in your favorite festive duds all while trying your best to get your greasy paws on melty morsels of grilled cheese.

Shrimp Burger of the Week

The Standard, Downtown LA has been on everyone’s tongue as of late.  Not just because of the waterbeds on the rooftop allowing you VIP views of the surrounding skyscrapers.  And definitely not because of the expansive hotel rooms that only uber-cool insiders seem to take advantage of.  It’s because of the new executive chef, Micah Fields, who has found himself taking over the kitchen at 24/7 Restaurant on the ground floor.

Locals have been agog over Chef Fields’ takeover, and Chef hasn’t disappointed.  His latest tour de force was the introduction of the Burger of the Week.  Over the past month, we’ve seen a Wild Boar Burger served with sweet cherry tomato jam, bacon speckled ham & jalapeno aioli.  The Colorado lamb burger with harissa hummus spread, shaved feta, olive sundried tomato bun and cucumber fetti followed suit.  Last week, the rabbit burger with crispy pancetta, fluffy bun and carrot chips hopped across guests’ plates to much adulation.

This week, we are proud to present la pièce de résistance in a month long burger barrage….The Rock Shrimp Burger.  This “Hawaiian Style” masterpiece is made with a deep fried rock shrimp patty and is served on a furikake bun with shrimp chips, wasabi caviar aioli and yuzu vinaigrette.

Do I really need to continue?  I’m here right now, so hurry up and come down.  Maybe I’ll buy you a beer?
