(Karlheinz Weinberger, Lake Biel, St. Petersinsel, 1963)
We just love a well documented random niche. Imagine this one. Switzerland’s juvenile delinquents in the 60’s (and late 50’s). Photographer Karlheinz Weinberger’s life spanned 1921 to 2006. The New York Times reviewed Mr. Karlheinz’s work in 2004.
Vice Magazine’s current issue (the “Barking Dog” issue) writes about Karlheinz “having his style ripped off by contemporary fashion designers, photographers, and stylists, like, all the time.”
Up until now, if you wanted to buy his book, you’d have to bid at least $500 on eBay for the out of print copy. Thank God Rizzoli got on the case and is releasing a new book on Feb 8th. Look for Rebel Youth soon. In the meantime, read the article at Vice.

The new book by Kaws is available at STND/OHWOW Shop at The Standard Miami. In conjunction with Skira Rizzoli and The Aldrich Museum Of Contemporary Art, Kaws is will be at The Standard hotel to celebrate the book release party for KAWS. If you can’t make it to the hotel, definitely check out this video on Nowness.com where they featured him in the Art Basel Series, “What Keeps You Alive”.
