One of the fashion industry’s most quiet and most humble superstars does not hail from what we all know a fashion capital to be. Yohji Yamamoto is from Tokyo, and for decades, he has been the driving force behind a cultural and visceral aesthetic which only can come from the mind of this man.
For almost a decade now, Yamamoto has been collaborating with athletic super brand, Adidas, on my favorite designer sport collection simply named, Y-3. Marrying form, function and a designer silhouette, the collection has been a cult favorite across the globe.
Now, the life of this genius has been documented in a film entitled Yohji Yamamoto: This Is My Dream, directed by Theo Stanley and produced by Chrissa Theodore. (Daria Werboy, Kate Moss, and Lara Stone for W Magazine)
Not a bad morning view to behold, eh? Kate, Daria, and Lara all crashed at The Standard, Miami with Bruce Weber and stylist Alex White to shoot for W Magazine. The result is an awesome narrative photographed at our Miami Beach location called “Summer Camp”. The tagline reads “school’s out and the livin’ is easy”. Give yourself 5 seconds to fall back and flip through the pretty photos of Summer Camp. The photo spread was published in July 2008, but pretty pics are timeless, right?
If you’re feelin’ the laid back vibe, take a dip into the sharply produced videos which dive deeper into the rabbit hole introducing all the designers who showed up — Kate and Laura Mulleavy (Rodarte), Jason Wu, Georgina Chapman (Marchesa), Alexander Wang, and soooo many more… too many names to mention, so please take a peek at the sweet video art by Theo Stanley set to gorgeous Cuban music.
